From the President and Secretary General |
The papers for next year's General Meeting, to be held before the WCPT Congress in Singapore in May, will be made available to WCPT's member organisations this week. This is more than an administrative task. It marks the start of the run-up to the most important landmark in WCPT's calendar, where WCPT's members gather to give their views and perspectives. For those who have never been to a WCPT General Meeting, it is hard to convey their unique atmosphere. They are truly where the world of physical therapy meets, conducting business and engaging in exchanges that could happen nowhere else. A sense of global professional unity, direction and respect pervades – even though discussions can be complex and sometimes difficult. Among the subjects on the agenda for 2015 are changes to the WCPT Articles, motions from member organisations and elections. For us, attending a General Meeting is a privilege, and we are looking forward to working with so many of our professional friends when we gather for the meeting to be held from the 28th April to 1st May. Kind regards, Marilyn Moffat and Brenda J Myers If you would like to use all or part of this E-letter for your own newsletters/websites then please feel free. We need your assistance to reach the profession around the world, so please send this e-update to your members. |
WCPT becomes .physio founder |
| WCPT has become a founding member of dot physio, the new internet domain extension specifically for the physical therapy community. The .physio extension works in the same way as .com and .org extensions to website domain names. The eligibility policy of .physio limits registration to people who are entitled to be members of a WCPT member organisation, so students, assistants, educators and retired practitioners may be eligible as well as practising physical therapists. Organisations that service these people are also eligible to register .physio domain names. Find out more, including how to register your own .physio domain name, at: wwwregistry.physio |

The work of the finalists will be displayed in an art and health exhibition at the WCPT Congress 2015 in Singapore. The theme of the competition is "fulfilling potential" and the original artwork must have been created as a photograph, painting, drawing or sculpture. The competition is open to all, with a maximum of three entries to be submitted by any one individual. |

Report: State of the world's children |
| Last week UNICEF launched the report: The State of the World's Children 2015. Marking 25 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the report calls for brave and fresh thinking to address age-old problems that still affect the most disadvantaged children. It is the first fully digital State of the World's Children, with interactive and multimedia content. You can personalise your experience by browsing through categories or by tailoring the content with a series of tags, allowing you to be connected to an innovation community and open-source ideas through an interactive world map. Access the report at: sowc2015.unicef.org/ |
