WCPT E-Update - October 2012

WCPT e-update

October 2012

From the President and Secretary General

Every week, it seems, there is a world day for something – and there is a real flurry of days relevant to physical therapy in the coming month (a list is provided below). WCPT believes in promoting such events. They provide an opportunity for many of us to mark or at least remember the impact of particular conditions or circumstances on global health. And in a world where more and more causes and attractions compete for our attention, we need to make sure that those that are most important to international wellbeing get the profile they deserve among the public, policy makers and fund-givers.

World Diabetes Day (14th November) www.idf.org/worlddiabetesday/

World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day (14th November) www.who.int/mediacentre/events/annual/world_copd_day/en/index.html

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (18th November) www.roadpeace.org/remembering/world_day_of_remembrance/. For information about the Decade of Action for Road Safety go to www.who.int/roadsafety/en/.

World Day for Prevention of Abuse and Violence against Children (19th November) http://19days.woman.ch/index.php/en/.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25th November) www.who.int/mediacentre/events/annual/elimination_vaw/en/index.html

Kind regards
Marilyn Moffat and Brenda J Myers
