WCPT Look Forward Together: third poll

Last week the third online poll was launched for the WCPT Look Forward Together consultation – this is your opportunity to tell us your opinion on what the Confederation's priorities should be for the years 2016-2021. The poll will take just five minutes to complete and includes translations into French and Spanish: www.surveymonkey.com/r/NG8TJZR. Volunteers are translating the poll into a number of languages to be used next to the online version. WCPT Congress 2017: call for focused symposia

WHPA award for interprofessional collaborative practice

The World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) is calling for nominations for the WHPA Award in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice. The award aims to "recognise an outstanding interprofessional team that has worked to improve patients' health through interprofessional collaborative healthcare." The team should include at least three different health professions, at least two of which should be represented within WHPA, ie dentists, medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physical therapists. Any health care setting will be considered and any field of collaborative practice is eligible. Find out how to submit a nomination and see the full criteria at: www.whpa.org/award.htm. International Day of Persons with Disabilities

3rd December is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The World Health Organization (WHO) is celebrating the day with an event around the WHO Global Disability Action Plan 2014-2021: Better health for all people with disability, which will have a special focus on Community-based rehabilitation (CBR).  The occasion will be used to launch the CBR Indicators Manual and the CBR Online Training Tool. WHO has also produced an infographic "Better health for people with disabilities", available for download at: www.who.int/disabilities/infographic/en/.

WCPT Region and subgroup events

WCPT South America Region: IV Congreso WCPT-SAR will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina 9-10 June 2016. To view the congress topics and to register go to: www.congresowcpt-sar.org (deadline for early bird rate 31st January 2016). European Region of WCPT: the call for abstracts and registration are now open for the ER-WCPT Congress: www.liverpool2016.com. The deadline for abstract submission is 29th February 2016. The congress will take place in Liverpool, UK 11-12 November 2016. The ER-WCPT Scientific Committee is currently recruiting potential reviewers of platform and poster abstracts, if you are interested in signing up go to: www.liverpool2016.com/abstracts. International Neurophysiotherapy Conference: the WCPT subgroup, the International Neurological Physical Therapy Association (INPA)  and ACPIN are hosting a conference in London, UK 17th-18th March 2016. Free peer-reviewed research publications

One of WCPT's continuing education partners, Educata, has made several peer-reviewed research publications freely available to download. Recent papers added include topics such as: cavitation sounds during cervical manipulation sports-related extensor carpi ulnaris pathology prevalence and correlates of dizziness in community-dwelling older people To download these and others go to: www.educata.com/articles.aspx. Educata is a global web-based continuing education scheme for physical therapists offering a broad spectrum of online courses.

Patient Solidarity Day

On Saturday 5th December, people from across the world will rally together to celebrate Patient Solidarity Day and declare that healthcare is a human right. The World Health Organization states that every person has 'the right to the highest attainable standard of health'. To mark the day the International Alliance of Patients' Organizations (IAPO) has produced a toolkit of resources and logos along with a list of ideas on how to get involved. WCPT Look Forward Together - Join the discussion and take part in poll 2

WCPT Look Forward Together Take part in our poll Tell us what you think are the main issues affecting the profession in your country What do you think are the main issues affecting the physical therapy profession in your country? Is it status, autonomy, pay and working conditions… or something else entirely? WCPT today launches the second of its online polls gathering opinion from member organisations and the physical therapy community to inform its new strategic plan to the year 2021. This is part of the WCPT Look Forward Together consultation, launched last month. The new online poll asks about the more challenging issues for the profession. It will take only five minutes to complete and you can access it at:  Click here to take part in poll 2 Esther Munalula Nkandu, WCPT Board member from Africa, has encouraged member organisations and physical therapists around the world to take part in the polls and get involved in the WCPT Look Forward Together consultation. "The strategic plan is going to be owned by WCPT, and the consultation process is very important so that we know what physical therapists want to be achieved," she said. "Engaging many physical therapists from all regions and different member organisations and countries brings varied perspectives into the planning process." The first online poll, asking about the main opportunities for the profession, has so far gathered 737 responses – and there is still time to complete poll 1.  Eighty six per cent of the people who have completed the first poll were responding as individuals, and 14 per cent on behalf of WCPT member organisations. Congreso WCPT-SAR Argentina 2016

Estimados amigos:

La World Confederation for Physical Therapy se encuentra subdividida en 5 regiones y una de ellas es la South American Region (SAR). Argentina se encuentra representada por la Asociación Argentina de Kinesiología ante estas instituciones.

En el año 2016 tendremos el agrado de ser los anfitriones en Argentina del IV Congreso WCPT-SAR por lo que extendemos la presente invitación tanto para presentar trabajos (formato póster, tema libre oral o conferencia plenaria) o bien como asistentes.

Las normas y ejes temáticos se encuentran en www.congresowcpt-sar.org. Realmente es una oportunidad única de participar en un evento tan importante a un costo realmente muy bajo.
