WCPT E-Update - October 2011

WCPT e-update
WCPT.ORG
October 2011

From the President and Secretary General
Nearly 5 months have passed since WCPT's General Meeting and congress in Amsterdam.  There is much to do following such events, not the least of which is reviewing feedback and considering the implications for the future. This process is ongoing but there is no question that the events were successful and will live in the memories of participants for a long time to come. The photos and written coverage on websites and in publications has been wonderful and has kept the memories fresh in our minds. Thank you to member organisations and all who have provided tremendous coverage of the congress and the General Meeting.
Kind regards,
Marilyn Moffat and Brenda J Myers

World Physical Therapy Day
Once again we have been overwhelmed with the response to World Physical Therapy Day. With each year more and more WCPT member organisations are celebrating the day to promote our profession and the contribution it makes to population health.
The day's theme of Movement for Health is as relevant today as it was at its launch three years ago. Non-communicable diseases (cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes and cancer) are responsible for around 60% of all deaths. Exercise plays a vital role in reducing this figure.
Reports of events that took place in 30 countries are now on the WCPT website at www.wcpt.org/wptday11. To read the in-depth coverage published in the latest issue of WCPT News go to www.wcpt.org/node/44470.
Thank you for your enormous support of this day and please continue all your excellent work!
